SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 11th June (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo of La Palma, through the La Palma Island Emergency Plan (Peinpal), has authorised the entry of residents to ten more homes in the La Bombilla neighbourhood during its latest session. Additionally, ongoing work is being carried out to measure commercial establishments along Puerto Naos Avenue, providing essential data on these businesses that are currently showing positive results.
Sergio Rodríguez, the president of the Cabildo, explains that these newly accessible homes, now totalling 790 between Puerto Naos and La Bombilla, have adhered to the monitoring criteria established, ensuring that the generated historical figure remains below 700ppm.
Furthermore, he highlighted that having more data on commercial premises will enable favourable updates to be announced during the upcoming Peinpal session, as another 600 sensors, managed by the IGN, are being integrated to provide full coverage of both neighbourhoods.
MITIGATION COMMITTEE
Sergio Rodríguez also announced that the Mitigation Committee will convene for the first time next Thursday, comprising bioclimatic architects, the local company Hidrolab, responsible for the pressure gradient studies, as well as representatives from politics, academia, and local residents; two from Puerto Naos and two from La Bombilla.
The committee’s goal is to conduct small-scale tests in specific areas, establishments, and residences, considering their individual characteristics to progress towards the reopening of more venues and, consequently, towards normality. The initial session will address the current situation and propose solutions to facilitate the reopening of the pharmacy in the Puerto Naos neighbourhood.
SUN HOTEL
In relation to the relaunch of the primary hotel establishment in Puerto Naos, Sergio Rodríguez confirmed that “this signals a positive recovery”, with approximately 1,000 beds potentially becoming available soon.
The president also revealed that the previous week, the company’s directors announced an investment of 4.5 million euros to enhance the facility’s standards, with plans to reopen on the 15th of July.
This reopening phase, he noted, aims to prepare the facilities for the winter season and welcome tourists back to Puerto Naos at full capacity.
