Investigators from the Civil Guard carried out an operation against Islamic radicalism in Tenerife on Tuesday morning and arrested two men for promoting jihadist propaganda.
According to the limited information available, agents from the Information units in Tenerife and other professionals from the mainland are involved in the operation. These officials carried out a single home search on the island.
This is a nationwide operation that has, so far, resulted in the arrest of nine individuals and various raids in Antas (Almería), Algeciras (Cádiz), Salt (Girona), and the aforementioned Tenerife.
The intervention took place in the municipality of Los Realejos and it appears that the detained individuals were heavily involved in downloading and sharing content from jihadist websites.
Several units of the Civil Guard were deployed in the La Zamora neighbourhood and proceeded with a house search.
Officers from the Armed Institute closed off Mencey Bentor street, which runs between La Zamora and the La Cruz Santa area. The search was conducted at a house next to a workshop.
The operation is overseen by the Central Examining Court number 3 of the National Court.
