Santa Cruz de Tenerife is solidifying its status as a favoured destination for the audiovisual industry by streamlining the management of 50 productions slated for the initial five months of 2024.

The announcement was made by Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez, who highlighted that “noteworthy activities include filming scenes for international TV series, Spanish movies, as well as photo and video shoots for global brands.”

Since the establishment of the Santa Cruz Film Office in July 2012 up to May 2024, a total of 712 audiovisual productions have benefitted from streamlined administrative processes.

Highlights of 2023 Productions in Santa Cruz

As per municipal data, in 2023, the capital of Tenerife hosted a total of 87 productions, including scenes for 8 feature films such as Den Of Thieves 2 starring Gerald Butter, Guy Ritchie’s film In the Gray, national productions like Disco Ibiza Locomía directed by Kike Malillo, and Flag by Martín Cuervo, among others.

Noteworthy productions last year also included filming of major series like the Spanish One less life in the Canary Islands featuring Natalia Verbeke and Ginés García Millán, and the miniseries Camilo Superstar. Additionally, National Geographic and Discovery Channel selected Santa Cruz for two documentaries, while brands like Nivea, Mango, Nike and Primark chose the city for filming commercials, along with conducting photo and video shoots.

Upcoming Productions in 2024

Already, in the initial five months of 2024, management has been streamlined for fifty productions, including filming for:

  • The Series The Head 3 starring John Lynch and Clara Galle
  • The BBC series The Gold 2
  • The Spanish series What are you waiting for? featuring Adriana Torrebejano, Rubén Cortada and Adriana Ugarte
  • The Spanish movie Reasonable doubt
  • A documentary showcasing the life of Tenerife boxer Miguel Velázquez
  • Commercials and photo sessions for brands such as Armani, Mango, C&A, Merrel, Audi, Kalenjii, Cerruti, Citröen and Décimas
