SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 9th June (EUROPA PRESS) –
The voter turnout for the European elections on Sunday, June 9th, has reached 18.87% in the Canary Islands by 1:00 p.m. This marks a decrease of almost six points (-5.74%) compared to the European elections held in May 2019, where participation at the same time was 24.61%.
A total of 311,931 individuals have cast their votes in the Canary Islands, which is 85,198 less than in 2019 when 397,129 people voted, coinciding with regional and municipal elections.
In the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 153,530 individuals visited the polling stations, resulting in a participation rate of 18.97%, a decline of 6.33 points from the 2019 European elections.
Meanwhile, in the province of Las Palmas, the participation rate stood at 18.81%, with 162,637 people casting their votes, marking a 5.51% decrease from the previous elections.
