
The City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, through the Autonomous Organization of Festivities and Recreational Activities (OAFAR), has opened this Thursday, November 18, and until December 18, the deadline for the receipt of works that will participate in the competition of the poster for Carnival 2022. The rules of the contest will be displayed both on the bulletin board of the municipal electronic headquarters, as well as on the web carnivaldetenerife.com, as of this Thursday for information of those interested.
Any person, artists or designers, individually or as a team, may participate in the contest. Each contestant may only submit a single work with its corresponding motto or title. Those who incur in any cause of abstention or recusal in the terms of articles 23 and 24 of Law 39/2015 of October 1, on the Legal Regime of Public Administrations, will not be able to participate.
People who are interested in competing must submit the duly completed registration along with their works, duly packed, in the General Registry of OAFAR, during registration hours from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., or by sending by mail or courier , in which case the interested party must prove, with the corresponding receipt, the date of imposition of the shipment and communicate it on the same day to the agency, by postal delivery.
The works will be presented in two sealed envelopes; The first will include the digital support with the design of the poster and on paper will include the digital designs sent, the technical and artistic description of the work in writing, alluding to its relationship with the expression of the Carnival, with the common and specific technical requirements of the bases, as the case may be, and how much data the author considers convenient to specify for its correct reading. It should not be included in this envelope any information that allows the author to be identified or to appear in the digital support. Failure to comply with this rule will be cause for exclusion from the contest.
The second envelope must contain the duly completed registration form, a photocopy of the ID of the participant or the team, a signed sworn statement indicating that the work is original and unpublished and, in the case of minors, authorization from the parents or legal representatives.
Parties will decide on the admission or inadmission to the contest by resolution of the Presidency, depending on whether or not they meet the requirements established in these bases.
The work will be delivered properly packaged to preserve it until its study and qualification by the jury, with the title or motto of the work, a technical and artistic description of it in writing alluding to its relationship with the expression of the carnival, accompanied by the adaptation labeled, where appropriate, at the final size.
Each contestant’s proposal must be presented in physical and digital format, since failure to comply with these conditions will imply disqualification and discard of the work. The characteristics that both formats must meet are specified in the contest rules.
The rules of the contest highlight that, in the event that more than ten works are submitted to the contest, a Jury will be appointed, which will be made up of the president of OAFAR or a person delegated to act with voice and without vote; and as members three professors or professors of Fine Arts and two representatives of the Carnival world.
The jury will choose from among the works presented the 10 best ones that, in their opinion, meet the plastic or artistic quality, the advertising or informative effectiveness of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife carnival and the motif ´Science Fiction´ as the theme of the carnival, and their conditions Of reproduction. Among the ten works previously selected by the Jury, the public through the website carnivaldetenerife.com, until January 2, that the winning poster will be chosen.
The author of the winning proposal will obtain a prize of 2,500 euros and the poster will become the exclusive property of OAFAR.
