SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 8 June (EUROPA PRESS) –

Today, on Saturday, runners Manuel Anguita and Eva María Sperger emerged as champions in the 110K category of the Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB, the highlight of the event, as they conquered the challenging course from Los Cristianos beach to the finish line at Martiánez beach in Puerto de la Cruz. The winners in their respective categories were athletes Riccardo Montani and Martyna Mlynarczyk (73K), Oswaldo Medina and Maude Mathys (47K), Jesús Moreno and Álvaro Caballero and Leandra ABT and Kleiter Alexeja (47K Relay), as well as Eduard Hernández and Vanessa Caba (24K). This edition also saw the Bluetrail Challenge with the participation of 30 individuals with disabilities in the 8, 5, and 1-kilometer races.

The thirteenth edition of the Tenerife race, organized by the Cabildo through the public company Ideco, saw 3,200 runners from 66 countries competing in one of the 10 race categories.

The awards ceremony was graced by the presence of Rosa Dávila, the president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, along with other distinguished officials and representatives from sponsoring companies.

This year, the Tenerife race joined the UTMB World Series family, the premier trail running circuit globally, marking a significant step towards its international recognition. The race offers Running Stones in four categories, leading to a coveted spot in the prestigious HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc race in Chamonix, France.

SAFETY AND INCIDENTS

The race proceeded smoothly with typical incidents encountered in such challenges. Most incidents were related to exhaustion, general discomfort, or minor injuries, resulting in 59 women and 197 men withdrawing from the race.

The Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB is a demanding race requiring logistical support from approximately 700 personnel, including civil authorities, law enforcement, rescue teams, and volunteers strategically positioned along the course to cater to the runners’ needs.

Additionally, close to 200 volunteers contributed to various race tasks, ensuring smooth operations from start to finish.
