The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Port Authority is solidifying its position within the Spanish port system by leading passenger traffic in transport and cruise modes, as well as the number of vehicles in passenger mode until April. This achievement is further highlighted by the fact that six of its traffic segments experienced growth above the national average during this period.
Specifically, up to April, our ports handled the movement of 2.5 million passengers and 540,665 vehicles associated with passengers travelling under transport mode, amounting to 1.7 million users.
Focusing solely on cruise passengers, Ports of Tenerife remain in an impressive second place with 604,460 passengers, registering a 2.6% increase in the annual figure. They also hold the same spot in the number of cruise ship stops, with 264 units in the period under review.
Regarding the movement of general goods, our ports rise to the sixth position within the national port system, having handled almost three million tons, showing a 10.6% increase.
In terms of general merchandise, which is closely linked to consumer goods, Ports of Tenerife excelled, surpassing the national average growth rate by 8.10%.
Apart from general merchandise, there was a notable 19.50% increase in liquid bulk, indicating our ports’ robust performance that exceeded the national average growth in this segment by eighteen points, as the national growth rate stood at 1.4%.
Regarding fuel supply, Ports of Tenerife matched the average growth rate of the port system, showing a positive six percent with 232,676 tons supplied.
Road traffic saw a 13.9% improvement, international container movement increased by 11.4%, and the number of cruise ships also observed growth percentages higher than the national port system’s average.
