“Tenerife becomes the international capital of women’s football with the match between Spain and Denmark“. This is how the President of the Insular Council, Rosa Dávila, boasts about the match that the Spanish national team will play against Denmark this Tuesday, corresponding to the qualifying phase for Euro 2025. Dávila visited the world champion players in their last training session to “welcome our warriors and thank the Royal Spanish Football Federation for choosing Tenerife as the venue for this important match.” In a video on social media, she boasted about the historical milestone that the Island was achieving by hosting this match at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium, positioning it as one of the most anticipated sporting events in all of Europe.

“We hope it will be a celebration, both for the victory and for the sporting and equality values”. On the Despierta Canarias program on Radio Marca, she insisted that the players are a reference for women’s sports and for all girls, a symbol as athletes and as women. This afternoon’s match will be the first game that the players play in Tenerife. The president ensures that it is an event that makes the Island proud and sends a message of support and confidence to the team, which hopes “to qualify for the next rounds because they are doing very well.” The level, for her, is “spectacular”, getting higher every time.

A festive atmosphere is expected at the Tenerife capital stadium, with a full house. The Heliodoro puts up the sign of sold out for the visit of the warriors which is expected to be a great spectacle. 22,824 spectators will support the Spanish women’s football team, a historic figure as it is the first time they fill a stadium of this capacity. The shirt numbers that the players will wear for the qualification match are already known and can be found on the Federation’s website.

The match can also be watched on National Television and RTVE Play. The pass will be secured with a victory against Denmark, the toughest rival in the group, whom Spain defeated last Friday with a 0-2 at the Vejle Stadion, with goals from Jennifer Hermoso and Mariona Caldentey. The objective for Montse Tomé’s team is to secure passage this very afternoon.
