SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 3rd June (EUROPA PRESS) –

The investigation commission on medical supplies for combating the effects of COVID-19 has taken a significant step by deciding to formally request personal data of individuals scheduled to appear before the commission from other public bodies to ensure proper notification.

This initiative was revealed by the commission’s president, Raúl Acosta of AHI, who expressed the importance of preventing situations similar to the one witnessed in the Balearic Parliament, where a former Ministry of Transport advisor, Koldo García, failed to attend hearings on two occasions.

Acosta stated, “To avoid such occurrences, we should be proactive and learn from previous experiences in other commissions. Therefore, we have reached an agreement today to seek necessary information to prevent any procedural issues.”

Highlighting the significance of classified information, Acosta mentioned that a letter will also be dispatched to the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) to identify documents under confidentiality and handle them appropriately during the commission’s proceedings, as certain contracts and files requested by numerous parties may not be publicly disclosed.

Emphasizing the dynamic nature of the commission’s work plan, which commences on 1st July, Acosta underlined that it remains open for amendments and updates based on the appearance of individuals involved, with a preliminary list already established with their contacts.

Notable individuals like Torres, Koldo García, Ábalos, and the ‘mediator’ are expected to appear before the parliamentary investigation commission.

Political groups supporting the Government have nominated a total of 38 individuals for appearances, including current Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, and former Ministry of Transport advisor, Koldo García.

Alongside, requests have been made for appearances by other figures such as Rayco González, administrator of RR7 United – involved in an alleged fraud of four million Euros to the SCS for undelivered masks; businessman Juan Manuel Pérez, the case’s plaintiff; Íñigo Rotaexte from Soluciones de Gestión y Apoyo de Empresas SL, a company linked to the Koldo case; former Health Ministers Julio Pérez, Blas Trujillo, and Teresa Cruz; former SCS directors Antonio Olivera and Conrado Domínguez, and former Treasury Minister, Román Rodríguez.

MEDIATOR

The Socialist Group has called for the appearance of 12 individuals, including Minister Ángel Víctor Torres, PP deputy Carlos Ester, Doctor Negrín Hospital’s manager, Miguel Ángel Ponce, and businessman Agustín Manrique de Lara.

Vox, besides entrepreneurs involved in the RR7 ‘mask case’, has also requested appearances by individuals like Torres, Koldo García, former Transport Minister José Luis Ábalos, and mediator Antonio Tacoronte.

Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista (NC-BC) has sought appearances of experts from the committee set up by the Canarian Government during the pandemic, various former Executive advisors, and former SCS director Conrado Domínguez.
