SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 17 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Board of Directors of Titsa, a company of the Cabildo de Tenerife, approved in its Board of Directors held this Wednesday the hiring of 122 people for the year 2022 with the aim of improving the public transport service and adapting it to the demand of passengers, which it is expected to be similar to or slightly higher than in 2019.

The vice president of the Cabildo, Minister of Mobility and President of Titsa, Enrique Arriaga, explains in a note that during the second half of this year, from June to September, the number of travelers has increased by 47% compared to January, which which brings the figures closer to the all-time highs of 2019.

“Given that our big data department predicts an estimate of passengers transported for next year of 45.95 million, a figure higher than that of 2019, it is necessary to increase the workforce to offer a quality public transport service adapted to the customer needs, “says Arriaga.

The new jobs represent 80 positions for driving personnel, 19 positions for the workshop area and the remaining 23 for administration and support structure for workshops and operations.

The insular director of Mobility, José Alberto León, maintains that with the increase of 80 drivers in the workforce it will be possible to reinforce services and even create new lines that respond to the future demand for mobility of the island’s inhabitants and visitors.

“We want public transport to be the first option to move around the island and we will not be able to achieve it if we do not have a staff dimensioned and adapted to the new reality,” says José Alberto León.

Likewise, within the new hires, the incorporation of 19 mechanics and maintenance workers is foreseen for the workshop area in order to progressively adapt to the ratio of the number of operators in relation to the service that exists in other companies in the sector.

At the same time, the rest of the new workers who will be incorporated would come to cover the historical deficit of qualified personnel in the administration area, which has been accentuated since 2020 for various reasons, such as vacancies and dismissals, increased demands and regulations in public contraction, among others.

Enrique Arriaga maintains that this increase in personnel will allow the management, direction and provision of quality services to be carried out by the largest company in the insular public sector and the third largest transport company in Spain.
