From the main church and through the streets of Isaac de Vega, San Francisco, and El Calvario, Granadilla de Abona carries out its pilgrimage, now in its 46th edition. Granadilla de Abona was adorned in folklore and tradition this Sunday to celebrate its XLVI pilgrimage, one of the oldest and most significant in the region. Following the mass sung by the Parranda Chasnera, this year’s festival heralds, the event began with the customary traditions in honor of San Antonio de Padua departing from the town’s main church.
The Herreño dancers were once again in charge of accompanying the patron of the people of Granadilla to the outside of the temple. From there, a dozen floats and around thirty carts departed, accompanied by the music of about ten folk groups and rondallas. The offering in honor of San Antonio de Padua was received by the mayoress, Jennifer Miranda, and the councillor of Culture and Festivities, Francisco Socas, as well as the rest of the town council members.

Thousands of people gathered on a sunny day along the main streets of the historic town where the pilgrimage unfolded: Isaac de Vega, San Francisco, and the El Calvario area, concluding at Parque Los Hinojeros. Also, the emblematic Arquitecto Marrero Regalado street and Plaza González Mena hosted the XXXV Crafts Fair, with around twenty stalls of crochet, watercolor, creative jewellery, lacework, cosmetic and traditional products, pottery, wooden toys, pyrography, and pastries, among others.
Jennifer Miranda appreciates the involvement of each and every person who attended this grand community celebration, from the participants with floats and carts to the folk groups and the general public who didn’t want to miss out on one of the most anticipated events of our Patron Saint Festivities.

On the other hand, Francisco Socas congratulates the residents who decorated facades, balconies, and shop windows in the historic town, adding even more charm and vibrancy to this celebration. He also encourages the population to continue being active participants in the events planned until the 13th of June, the saint’s day. The pilgrimage, now in its 46th edition, concluded at Parque Los Hinojeros, where a grand dance took place featuring the orchestras Gomera, Armonía Show, Sabrosa, and Atlantic.
