SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 1st June (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Island Directorate of Strategic Projects of the Tenerife Council has shown strong support for the audiovisual sector, deeming it crucial for the island’s economic diversification.
Moreover, it is a sector that can create steady, high-quality jobs that stimulate the economy through its network of businesses and professionals, as informed by the Island Council.
Alicia Concepción Leirachá, the director of Strategic Projects for the island, emphasises that the Council is striving “to participate in major international audiovisual events, with plans to attend 18 events by 2024.”
All of this is aimed “to showcase the benefits of filming in Tenerife: its landscapes, climate, competitive local audiovisual industry, and its tax incentives – one of the best globally, offering deductions of up to 54% of expenditures on the Islands.”
Leirachá also noted that, based on data from the Tenerife Film Commission, “the industry achieved record economic results in 2023, with an economic impact of 103 million euros and a production value of 163 million euros.”
Finally, the island’s director mentioned that “our focus remains on professionalizing and training the sector, with over 15 training initiatives conducted by the Tenerife Film Commission.”
