CANARY ISLANDS CELEBRATION | Canarian folklore gets a metal makeover with the help of AI

On this Canary Islands Day, Canarian folk music has been innovatively transformed with NuMetal, Thrash Metal, and Groove Metal versions, all thanks to artificial intelligence technology. These new arrangements could have echoed through iconic venues such as El Monkey and El Haring in Tenerife, as well as the legendary Paraninfo and heavy metal pubs in the south of Gran Canaria.

The aim behind this initiative is to offer a modern tribute to traditional Canarian music, adapting it to contemporary tastes and celebrating the cultural richness of the islands in a new and exciting way. Songs like “Para La Gomera” and “Somos Costeros” have been reinterpreted with explosive riffs, intense guitar solos, and powerful vocals, merging folklore passion with the energy of metal.

This special project has been developed to commemorate that 30th of May, aiming to unite generations through a unique musical fusion. By using artificial intelligence, these versions have been created to pay tribute to the cultural roots of the islands while offering a refreshing alternative to traditional music.

The new song versions could have been played by DJ Doramas at the Paraninfo, an emblematic venue in Gran Canaria, and could also have reverberated in venues like El Adrenaline and El Turbo, known for their heavy metal atmosphere in the South of Gran Canaria. In Tenerife, metal fans could have enjoyed these performances at El Monkey and El Haring, creating an electrifying and energetic atmosphere.

For many of the Generation X and Canarian millennials, these versions represent a form of cultural resistance against the predominance of reggaeton. The fusion of styles aims to keep the musical identity of the Canary Islands alive, offering a powerful alternative that resonates with contemporary sensibilities.
