As part of the festivities for the Canary Islands Day, Santa Cruz de Tenerife has put together an extensive programme spanning over 12 hours, featuring a variety of activities including cultural showcases, gastronomic delights, folk performances, sports exhibitions, and leisurely pursuits.
This special day coincides with the conclusion of the founding celebrations of Tenerife’s capital, culminating in the traditional concert by the renowned group Los Sabandeños.
A Glimpse of All the Festivities in Santa Cruz for Canary Islands Day
Wednesday 29
The festivities kick off on Wednesday with the following lineup of events:
- From 11:00 am: Dreamer Fair – La Concepción Church Square
- From 12:00 p.m.: Wine Fair – Calle La Noria
- 5:00 p.m.: Salto del Pastor and Palo Game Workshops – Plaza de España
- 6:00 p.m.: Children’s Canary Wrestling display by the Los Campitos Wrestling Club – Plaza de España
- 9:00 p.m.: Traditional concert by Los Cantadores – Plaza de La Candelaria
Thursday 30 – Celebrating Canary Islands Day

- From 12:00 p.m.: Continuation of the Wine Fair
- From 12:00 p.m.: Performances by the folk groups Garajonay, Chincanayros and Aguerche (from Campo Castro to the square of the Concepción church)
- 3:00 p.m.: Stick Game Performance (at the Autonomous Festival Organization)

- From 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.: Continuation of the Dreamer Fair (running until Saturday the 1st at the same time)
- 12:00 p.m.: Domino Tournament
- From 12:00 to 17:00: Animal Exhibition in Campo de Castro featuring over twenty species of native breeds from all the islands

- 12:00 p.m.: Vibrant Big Band Jazz Concert by We are

2:00 p.m.: Exciting Typical Food Competition, the oldest in the national territory. Contestants include Juan Quesada Rodríguez, Ana María Rodríguez Febles, Ángeles Melani Casañas Pérez, Sociedad Guachipanduzy, and Francisco Martín Sánchez and Manuel Delgado Delgado.
3:00 p.m.: Awards ceremony for the Typical Food competition

From 12:00 to 19:00, kids can enjoy activities such as:

- Bowling and shuffleboard
- Face Painting
- Kite making workshops
- Gofio preparation

- Parcheesi and giant tic-tac-toe
The day will be enlivened by traditional parades through the main streets of the Quadrilátero during noon, featuring the groups Itamar, Mayores del 2000, and Montenevado.
A spectacular pyrotechnic display, with minimal noise impact, will illuminate the city’s sky, bringing a colourful conclusion to the festivities.
