Yesterday, Los Realejos basked in one of its most charming and festive occasions of the year during the traditional pilgrimage honouring San Isidro Labrador and Santa María de la Cabeza. This event, declared of National Tourist Interest, animated the streets of the town with numerous residents and visitors. It was a day dedicated to celebrating tradition and folklore, accompanied by delightful local wine and authentic cuisine to relish with friends and family.

The festivities commenced with the Eucharist around noon at the parish of the Apostle Santiago, featuring musical performances of the Canary Islands mass by the Tigaray group. Following the ceremony, the pilgrimage kicked off, led by the images of the revered saints, escorted by the municipal Corporation, the May Festival Mayor Daniela García, and eleven other candidates, along with 84 carts drawn by various groups. The procession was joined by numerous parties, families, and friends, all adding to the vibrancy of the celebration.
Participating in the areas led by the pilgrimage delegation were eight folklore groups that had partaken in the XLIX Festival of the Islands of Los Realejos the previous Saturday, representing the eight islands.

The pilgrimage followed its usual route, returning the sacred images to their temple by 6:00 p.m., accompanied by the Sabinosa Folklore Group. The conclusion of the pilgrimage was marked by a festival at Viera y Clavijo square featuring performances by the Malibú, Maquinaria Band, and Grupo LD orchestras. Additionally, Santi Pérez entertained on Doctor Antonio González Street, while Tenerife Street, known as the young area, hosted DJs Abel, Wes, and Franklin Sánchez. Furthermore, in collaboration with the Department of Equality and the Federation of Arena and Laurisilva Women’s Associations, Purple Points providing advice, support, and immediate intervention for victims of harassment, violence, or discrimination were established, similar to the services at the Magician’s Ball.
