The Canary Islands Parliament is hosting Open Days from 27th May to 1st June to provide the inhabitants of the Archipelago with a better understanding of the institution. The Speaker of the Chamber, Astrid Pérez, states that with this initiative, part of the events planned for the Canary Islands Day, “the aim is to bring the Parliament closer to the people and allow anyone interested to visit our headquarters in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, during morning and afternoon hours, to learn about the history, heritage, architecture, and functions of their Parliament.”
“We are all set to receive as many visits as possible starting from Monday, 27th May, until Saturday, 1st June. Visitors can come between 10:00 and 14:00, and between 17:00 and 20:00. Except for the last day, where the schedule will be morning only,” explained the Speaker.

“We hope that many men and women from the Canary Islands will come to our headquarters in Tenerife next week to discover the Parliament. We are in a very unique and attractive building, full of history and artworks, which is, above all, the house of the citizens. It is here that their representatives make decisions that impact the day-to-day life of our eight islands,” emphasised Astrid Pérez.
The Canary Islands Parliament offers guided tours for groups throughout the year, but due to the high demand, there is usually a waiting period to enjoy them. The Speaker reminds us that “with these six days of open doors, we want to provide the opportunity for anyone interested to celebrate Canary Islands Day by visiting the place where this festivity originated, established in celebration of the first plenary session of the Canary Islands Parliament on 30th May 1983.”
