SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 21st May (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo of La Palma, operating through the La Palma Island Emergency Plan (Peinpal), has given the green light to the relocation of access controls to Puerto Naos, shifting them to the boundary of the recognised Black Zone. Moreover, QR codes will no longer be mandatory for other areas, granting unrestricted entry to the beach vicinity and pre-approved residences.

The island’s president, Sergio Rodríguez, announced that these adjustments will be effective from 3rd June, with the control booth being shifted to the northern section of the beach promenade and alterations made to the security fence placement in restricted areas. Additionally, the signage will be enhanced for better understanding by the public.

During the Peinpal meeting, exclusion zones in Las Manchas and Las Norias were also redefined to align with the rebuilding regulations set by the Canary Islands Government.

Sergio Rodríguez revealed that 27 new residences in Puerto Naos and one commercial establishment have been granted access. This brings the total number of homes in Puerto Naos and La Bombilla to 757, along with nine commercial properties. The president mentioned ongoing detailed assessments in La Bombilla to facilitate access to more residences.

The Peinpal session deliberated on the potential approval of recreational diving in the fajana area, awaiting consent from the Ministry of Transportation to proceed with this activity. In terms of Public Health initiatives, reports and assessments have been conducted on fifteen volunteer residents, with initial results expected in a fortnight.

Concerning infrastructure recovery, progress on LP-211 was highlighted by Sergio Rodríguez, citing the emergency contracting report already in force and the completed project. The primary objective is to link the Roundabout of the Future in the La Laguna district with the LP-213 leading to Las Manchas, then extending from Todoque to Las Norias.

On the LP-2 restoration front, permissions to utilise funds from the Highway Agreement between the State and the Canary Islands Government are awaited to advance Cabildo-led initiatives. In this regard, positive developments were reported by Sergio Rodríguez following initial feedback from the General Directorate of Highways.
