SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 20th May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Today in Tenerife’s Cabildo’s Noble Hall, a manifesto advocating for individuals affected by inflammatory bowel disease and ostomy, as well as their families, was read. The event was graced by various public figures, with the Minister of Social Action, Águeda Fumero, presiding over it.

The council member emphasised the Council’s dedication to those affected by this illness, stating that “we aim to bring visibility and raise awareness among the population, a crucial aspect in promoting policies that ensure equal opportunities for all citizens.”

Águeda Fumero expressed the island government’s determination “to enhance resources for the Canarian Association of Patients and Families of Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Ostomy (ACEIIO), enabling them to expand their services to various parts of the island,” fostering better collaboration between third-sector organisations and public bodies to swiftly and effectively address social needs. “

ACEIIO’s president, María de la Salud Grillo, took charge of presenting the manifesto, stressing the importance of fostering equality and improving the quality of life for individuals grappling with this illness. The objective is to raise awareness among society, public authorities, and businesses about the realities faced by a significant portion of the population, while also highlighting the significance of promoting values like solidarity, dedication, and unity.
