A 65-year-old hiker sustained moderate leg injuries after a fall in La Laguna and was rescued by a helicopter from the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) on Monday.
The incident took place at 10:30 a.m. when the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES) 112 of the Government of the Canary Islands received a distress call for medical assistance for the hiker who had fallen and was unable to continue along the trail linking Cruz del Carmen with Bajamar.
Utilizing the assistance of the Firefighters, the GES helicopter team successfully rescued the injured hiker and transferred him to Tenerife North airport. From there, an ambulance from the SUC attended to him and facilitated his journey to La Candelaria Hospital.
