To ensure public health protection and prevent fires in Los Realejos, Mayor Adolfo González and the first deputy mayor and Urban Planning councilor, Noelia González, are calling on the owners of vacant lots, plots, and other lands to clean them up. They highlight that it is their responsibility to keep these areas in a minimum condition of cleanliness, safety, and public appearance.
Noelia González points out that “the water emergency resulting from high temperatures and the lack of autumn and winter rainfall, as well as the warnings from higher authorities about advancing wildfire prevention campaigns, motivate us to reiterate this message.”.
Adolfo González warns that “landowners, plot owners, and those with vacant lots must carry out the relevant cleaning, clearing, and tidying tasks, considering that the accumulation of weeds, grass, fodder, and all kinds of solid waste generates fuel that can cause or facilitate the spread of fires, a situation that worsens the lack of precipitation typical of these months.”
The municipal campaign emphasizes eight measures, such as cleaning, removing belongings and dry vegetation from agricultural land and uncultivated plots. Clearing vegetation around 15 meters around the house, other buildings or rooms, and not accumulating debris in the surroundings.

Remember to have at least 25 meters of hose available in good condition; keep roofs and gutters clean from branches and leaves and trim branches over them; cut low branches from trees near houses and remove possible pine needles; place firewood and fuel for barbecues and fireplaces in a safe place, away from vegetation; avoid vines and choose less flammable plants adapted to the environment; keep house and estate exit routes clear and be extremely cautious with the use of tools that can produce sparks in vegetation areas (cutting grinders, welding, brush cutters, engines, etc).
“We are not just talking about visual cleanliness, but about environmental cleanliness, public health, fire prevention, with the importance it entails to preserve said properties and adjacent ones, as well as nearby natural environments, and the safety of people,” insists Mayor Adolfo González of Los Realejos.
