The Teide, a gem of Spain’s natural wonders and the most visited national park in Europe, extends across a breathtaking volcanic terrain on the island of Tenerife.

However, little known to many, it spans across territories of 13 distinct municipalities, each contributing its unique essence to this remarkable natural habitat.

The Diverse Municipalities within the Teide National Park

The Teide National Park, acknowledged as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2007, is renowned not just for its iconic Teide summit, the tallest point in Spain, but also for its abundant biodiversity and varied landscapes. This assortment is echoed in the 13 municipalities that share their territories with the park:

  1. La Orotava: With a considerable part of the park within its borders, La Orotava stands out as one of the well-known municipalities associated with Teide.
  2. Icod de los Vinos: Famed for its ancient dragon tree, it also encompasses a section of the national park.
  3. Guía de Isora: Boasting an impressive volcanic backdrop and panoramic vistas of the park.
  4. Granadilla de Abona: Renowned for its natural splendor, Granadilla de Abona also shares in this national treasure.
  5. San Juan de la Rambla: Contributes with its lush biodiversity and natural expanses.
  6. La Guancha: This quaint municipality features a segment of the park that offers awe-inspiring views.
  7. Santiago del Teide: Another municipality that coexists with this magnificent volcanic landscape.
  8. Los Realejos: With a portion of the park nestled within its boundaries, Los Realejos is celebrated for its verdant surroundings.
  9. La Victoria de Acentejo: Adds its share to the diversity of the park with its distinctive landscapes.
  10. Fasnia: This municipality also incorporates a small section of the national park.
  11. Vilaflor de Chasna: The loftiest municipality in Spain, encompassing areas of the Teide National Park.
  12. Arico: Sheltering a section of the park, Arico enriches the legacy of Teide.
  13. El Rosario: This municipality also enjoys the privilege of being a part of the Teide National Park.
