Future artists were inspired by Agatha Christie’s visit to the city. GIVES

Confuse fun with incivism. That was what happened this weekend in the Paseo San Amaro, in the La Paz area, where the artistic interventions made by the students of the Fernando Estévez Superior School of Art and Design in the framework of this edition were destroyed. year of the Agatha Christie International Festival, which ran from November 5 to 14.

The students took advantage of the urban furniture of this Portuense enclave to carry out artistic interventions related to the work of the queen of crime, who visited Puerto de la Cruz in 1927.

During his stay, it was this specific point of the municipality that inspired him to write The Man from the Sea, an episode from the book The Enigmatic Mr. Quin. There is a bust dedicated to the British writer and the old Paseo del Ciprés, remodeled this year, also bears her name. The stairs of Paseo San Amaro have written the titles of his books and works related to his career, an initiative of the Center for Tourism Initiatives (CIT) that began in previous editions of the Festival.

Untrustworthy and disrespectful

The mayor, Marco González, “deeply” regrets the events that occurred on Saturday night which, in his opinion, “respond to incivility and lack of respect from people who unfortunately confuse fun with actions that do nothing to preserve coexistence. In our city”.

In this sense, it should be remembered that this newspaper conveyed the concern of the residents of La Paz days ago about the increase in bottles that are carried out in the place during the weekends and that they are left in “lamentable” conditions. Due to this, the local Executive held a meeting with the Government Sub-delegation in which it was agreed to considerably increase the police presence in the area, both of the Local and National Police to address this situation that damages the coexistence of the Porto citizenship and will continue to work in coordination to reverse this behavior.

However, González appeals to families with the aim of collaborating in raising awareness for education and respect “which must be the values that lead us to resolve this damage that the citizens of this area of the city have been suffering. ”.
