SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 15th May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
An event is being organized by the Cabildo of Tenerife, through the Insular Directorate of Foreign Affairs and Institutional Relations, for a discussion tomorrow with Venezuelan political figures Leopoldo López and Antonio Ledezma, scheduled to be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Assembly Hall of the Faculty of Economy, Business and Tourism at the University of La Laguna, on the Guajara Campus. Admission is free.
Pedro González, the director of Insular Foreign Affairs and Institutional Relations, mentioned that various groups of Venezuelan citizens living in Tenerife had requested this Directorate to host a public event on the island focusing on the state of democracy in Venezuela.
“In response to this request, we have arranged for two reputable speakers to discuss the current situation in Venezuela, its potential implications, and address the concerns conveyed to us by the public. We encourage all interested individuals to participate in this discussion,” stated González.
González urged all Venezuelans residing in Tenerife to attend the event, emphasising that this initiative “is a response to the appeal made by several groups seeking a platform to raise awareness about the current situation in Venezuela.”
Antonio José Ledezma Díaz, a Venezuelan politician and lawyer, served as the mayor of the Metropolitan District of Caracas until 2015.
Leopoldo López Gil, the father of Venezuelan politician Leopoldo López, is a businessman, activist and politician who, in the 2019 European elections, was elected as a Member of the European Parliament for Spain on the Popular Party’s roster.
