Badayco Rodríguez emerges as the new driving force behind the younger generation in Valle de Guerra. A proud Vallero who also serves as the spokesperson for the Idafe Youth Association. An ambitious and dedicated individual who tirelessly advocates for his community, fighting for their evolving needs over time.
Continuing his dedication to the people, Rodríguez and his team have once again assembled the festival committee for the 75th edition of the Valle de Guerra pilgrimage in honour of San Isidro Labrador and Santa María de la Cabeza in 2024. The President of this milestone event expresses, “We are filled with motivation and enthusiasm for this celebration. I am fortunate to lead a dedicated team that has been serving our town for many years. This is our second year of commitment to this beloved event and we are grateful to the residents of Valle de Guerra, the La Laguna City Council, our collaborating partners, and the unwavering support from everyone involved in the Commission.”
This year’s festival programme boasts a diverse array of popular events, ensuring that vitality and merriment are brought to the town. Rodríguez emphasises, “Our aim is not to imitate others. We simply strive to preserve our culture, values, and honour our cherished traditions. We are also grateful for the outstanding work carried out by previous festival committees over the last 75 years.”
He recognises the significance of involving young people in such cultural, artistic, and popular events. Rodriguez asserts, “Youth are the lifeblood of any celebration. We must provide them with opportunities to showcase their talents. I have full confidence in the youth, particularly because they are guided by the wisdom of their grandparents and parents.”
Anticipating a vibrant atmosphere, Rodríguez affirms, “The pilgrimage will create a festive ambiance, drawing thousands of people from the Canary Islands. Our pilgrimage is marked by solidarity, rich in tradition, showcasing our distinctive attire, performances, cultural displays, religious ceremonies, culinary delights, and beverages, while also extending a warm welcome to visitors from other islands.”
The Idafe Association spokesperson stresses their desire to “secure the best for Valle de Guerra, yet we also require the support of the elected officials representing the La Laguna City Council. There is a strong drive to realise various projects, and we remain hopeful of their successful implementation in the near future.”
