The prestigious bridal designs firm Marco&María (M&M) will unveil their new collection Los Paraísos Perdidos at the Tenerife Fashion Fair on the Island, taking place at the Santa Cruz Fairgrounds from the 6th to the 9th of June. It symbolizes a sort of homecoming, a return of the prodigal children, after five years of absence, since the pre-pandemic period, from the main event driven by Tenerife Moda, the label to which the brand is affiliated. They will showcase for the first time on the Island their proposal, following the success achieved at the Barcelona Bridal Week or previously, in September last year, at the New York Fashion Week.

The pride of Efraín Medina

The Employment Councillor of Tenerife Island Council, Efraín Medina, states that “it is an honour to have a leading firm like Marco&María, which has internationalized the Tenerife Moda label to the highest level”. As the councillor points out, they have showcased their collections on important runways such as those in Barcelona, Paris, Shanghai, and New York. Furthermore, Efraín Medina emphasizes a detail: “Although their collections are marketed in more than 30 countries worldwide, they still have their workshop and their own retail point in Tenerife, which translates into generating local employment.”

The collection details

The new collection from the duo of designers from Puerto de la Cruz is a fusion of cultural, architectural, and racial influences. Ethereal and hyper-feminine dresses with fabric and colour layering, as well as floral motifs wrapped in folds of tulle as if blooming among them. It is worth highlighting the variety of volumes, always created to not lose the subtle movement of the garment. Also, their varied colour palette, from white to black, through to soft pinks, blues, or yellows. From a crew neck to thin straps or a strapless design. Additionally, they maintain lingerie touches with bustiers – a sleeveless, waist-length garment – subtly revealed through transparent fabrics. An exquisite proposal, full of sensuality and romanticism, with a variety of necklines and volumes where floral motifs wrapped in folds of tulle break the classic style of the bridal world to envelop the female silhouette with all the essence of the brand.

Tenerife as their flag

The designers Marco Marrero and María Díaz started their professional journey in 1990, with the opening of their first design and dressmaking workshop in Puerto de la Cruz. In 1998, they founded the firm Marco&María, joining Tenerife Moda and starting their international expansion a few years later. The brand has distinguished itself from the beginning with its unique style that stands out for its marked vintage air and the theatricality of its collections, the hallmark of the brand. Marco&María infuse each collection with fantasy and romanticism. Their creations for brides and special occasions stand out for the use of exclusive design fabrics and textures. Far from the automated nature of mass production processes, Marco&María personalize each of their pieces with artisanal sewing finishes and fully centralize the design and production of each piece in Spain without neglecting any detail. The brand has its flagship store in Spain – the standout space of a brand or company in a country – located at number 14 on the central Pérez Galdós street, in the Tenerife capital, and their collections are available in leading bridal sector stores worldwide in over 30 countries across Europe, Asia, and America. Their dresses bear the approved labels Designed in Spain and Made in Spain certifying them.

Two social media reviews among hundreds are enough to explain Marco&María’s level. The first: “After visiting several bridal shops, I found Marco&María and it was love at first sight. The exclusivity, the personal attention, the quality of the dresses,… I only have good words.” The second: “Dresses worthy of competing on any runway. Congratulations.” Passion for quality, artisan finishes, and the selection of unique fabrics are the golden stitches of the brand. Marco and María return to their home after succeeding abroad like the prodigal children of Tenerife.
