SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 13th May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Government Council of the Canary Islands has given the green light to a proposal for prior administrative authorization for the construction of a four-star hotel in La Oliva, Fuerteventura.
This is a necessary step that evaluates the hotel project’s compliance with quality and energy efficiency standards before final approval by the Fuerteventura Cabildo.
The Canary Islands’ Tourism Renewal and Modernization Law stipulates that prior authorizations are only issued for tourist accommodation in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, and Tenerife, as a prerequisite for urban planning licenses required for new accommodation establishments.
The criteria for these establishments, whether hotels or non-hotel properties where not explicitly prohibited by urban planning, demand adherence to building and service quality standards that ensure minimal environmental impact in terms of water conservation, noise control, lighting, and waste management, as stated by a government release.
Additionally, the establishment must adhere to density, amenities, infrastructure, and service requirements set by regulations to establish a standard of excellence and eco-efficiency.
As per the submitted documents, the hotel is planned on a plot covering 66,352 square meters, with a total of 478 units and 956 bed spaces.
