SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 12th May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife will be conducting 75 disinfection and rodent extermination operations from June to October in the city’s five districts, with a strong focus on critical areas, as part of the Comprehensive Pest Management Program (PIGP) implemented by the company Seranca Rentokil-Initial.

Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez praised the “dedication and hard work put in to maintain the city, across all five districts, in top-notch conditions” and highlighted the council’s continuous efforts to prevent the appearance of these unwelcome insects and rodents on the streets.

Meanwhile, Public Services Councillor Carlos Tarife detailed that the work will commence in the Southwest district in June, followed by the Ofra-Costa Sur district in July, continuing through Salud-La Salle, Ifara Center, and concluding in Anaga. He once again urged the public to dispose of their garbage responsibly, as leaving it outside bins often attracts pests.

The disinfection and rodent control service covers public pathways (streets, footpaths, and trails), publicly owned outdoor spaces (plazas, parks, green areas, land, gullies, and maintained zones), as well as public networks and facilities such as electricity, street lighting, traffic signals, telecommunications, sewage systems, and more.

Moreover, auxiliary facilities like underground bins, cabinets, municipal buildings, school premises, and outbuildings, including those owned by municipal entities, are included. The service also extends to the municipal vehicle fleet premises and privately owned properties, both indoors and outdoors, requiring intervention due to exceptional health risks.
