SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 12th May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
A 20-year-old young man was rescued by the GES helicopter near the Charco Verde natural pool, in the municipality of La Guancha, Tenerife, according to information provided by the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (Cecoes) 1-1-2.
The incident took place just before 2:30 p.m., when the 1-1-2 operational centre received a distress call about a swimmer in difficulty approximately 50 meters from the shore, facing rough sea conditions, in the specified area.
Cecoes promptly mobilised the required resources, with a rescue helicopter from the GES, a basic life support ambulance from the SUC, along with personnel from the Fire Consortium, the Civil Guard, and the Local Police dispatched to the scene.
The GES helicopter successfully rescued the individual and airlifted him to the La Guancha helipad, where an SUC ambulance was on standby to transport him to the Hospital del Norte, as he displayed signs of near-drowning and moderate multiple contusions.
Due to the severity of his condition, he was later transferred by ambulance to the Ntra. Sra. de Candelaria University Hospital. The firefighters and police officers collaborated closely with the emergency services throughout the operation.
