Tenerife will lead cutting-edge research in the tourism sector from the 19th to the 21st of next July. More than twenty universities from around the world will participate in the Global Summit 2024 congress to present research, communicate works, and registrations are open for those who wish to take part in this unique international event. It is the third summit in history after the ones held in 1994 and 2004, aimed at individuals and professionals interested in the major challenges of the short, medium, and long term future.

A Challenge for the Island

The Tenerife forum will open the debate on the state of the industry and the challenges it faces. It will feature distinguished speakers such as Natalia Bayona from UNWTO and Antonio Santos, president of the Tourism Think Tank. The event on the Island is supported by the World Tourism Organization and involves the Cabildo, through Tourism of Tenerife, the University of La Laguna – where the event will take place – and the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow).

The participating educational institutions are based in Brazil, Spain, France, Israel, Mexico, Portugal, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Among the prestigious experts participating in the event are Natalia Bayona, executive director of UNWTO, and Antonio Santos del Valle, president of the Tourism and Society Think Tank.

The Tenerife Global Summit 2024 will be divided into six axes: collaborative and intelligent tourism governance; new leadership and sustainable and inclusive growth; labor market and competitive transformation of destinations; tourism space, companies, and individuals; product, marketing, and tourism and digitalization intelligence.

The sessions will be distributed among thematic presentations, professional versus academic work sessions, virtual meetings, vertical forums, and workshops. The final declaration on the future of tourism will subsequently be presented to major international bodies.
