The Department of Citizen Security, Local Police and Civil Protection of the Tacoronte Town Hall has initiated contacts with the municipalities of El Sauzal and Tegueste with the purpose of holding a common front before the Subdelegation of the Central Government of the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife to reinforce the number of Civil Guard troops in the Region of Acentejo.
The initiative, undertaken by the councilor responsible for the area, Julio Navarro (PSOE), is due to “the need to give coverage and reinforcement to the reduction of Local Police officers that has been taking place in recent years, as well as to also propose that the effort that the Benemérita makes year after year in the Acentejo region be compensated, attending a wide section of territory that, in our opinion, requires more human resources and materials”.
Navarro pointed out that he has already contacted public officials from both municipalities and that, on the part of these corporations, the response has been “very satisfactory” and with “a clear decision to support the proposed reinforce security throughout the area». In Navarro’s opinion «it would further redound to the good results obtained by the Civil Guard in the region, a necessary body and highly valued by citizens, which now corresponds to the local administrations where they provide their services to demand an improvement in their endowments ».
