Bahía del Duque has been awarded one of the exclusive Michelin Keys in the first round of awards given by the prestigious French guide in Spain. Only 97 hotels in the country have received this distinction.
Similar to Michelin Stars for restaurants, the Keys recognise the most extraordinary hotels. In the case of Bahía del Duque, owned by The Tais Hotels & Villas, Michelin Guide experts have praised its unique personality and architecture, inspired by the style and tradition of the Canary Islands. They also highlighted its interior design, featuring bright rooms and suites with views of the sea or the hotel’s lush tropical gardens spanning over 63,000 square meters.
Among the aspects that make Bahía del Duque deserving of this new distinction, the guide also recognises the quality and variety of its restaurants, its spectacular spa, Bahía Wellness Retreat, with an outdoor thalassotherapy circuit, and its prime location by the sea in the exclusive setting of Costa Adeje, in the south of Tenerife. According to the Michelin Guide experts, after over 30 years since its opening, “Bahía del Duque continues to lead the hotel scene in the Canary Islands”.
The Michelin Guide now features over 5,000 hotels worldwide distinguished with its Keys. These are places that have a significant impact on visitors and each has been examined and deemed excellent in five categories: architecture and interior design; quality and consistency of service; personality and overall character; value for money; and significant contribution to the traveler’s experience in a specific environment.
The hotel’s general manager, Cristina de Juan, stated that “it is an honour for the entire Bahía del Duque team to receive this distinction from the Michelin Guide, recognizing our constant effort to provide an exceptional experience to our guests. This accolade drives us to continue surpassing expectations and remain a benchmark in the hotel sector in the Canary Islands, staying true to our respect for local essence and commitment to continuous improvement and sustainability”.
The Michelin Key adds to the numerous awards garnered by Bahía del Duque, which has already accumulated over 90 national and international accolades since its opening, including: Best Service at the Condé Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence 2024; Best Destination Spa at the Condé Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence 2023; and the Holidays Customer Excellence Award 2023, presented by British Airways. Additionally, the recent Futuristic Mencey Award of Honour 2024 in the Most Sustainable Tourism Company category.
