Jose Jiménez Valladares, renowned for his professional persona in the realm of graphic design under the name Pepe Valladares, along with his team, emerged triumphant in the elections convened on Monday afternoon to appoint the new president and board of directors of the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Tenerife, an artistic and cultural institution with its historical headquarters on Calle del Castillo de Santa Cruz. In 2025, the entity will mark its centenary.
The Valladares team secured 78 votes, while 73 votes went to the group led by Dulce Xerach Pérez, the only two lists in contention. There were no blank or invalid votes. Despite a membership base of just over 200, only 151 members exercised their voting rights, with many votes being delegated.
Valladares, a former president of the association, triumphed over Dulce, also a former president of the same institution under the Government of the Canary Islands.

The newly elected head of the Círculo de Bellas Artes entered the elections with a focused agenda “emphasizing plurality, contemporaneity and a dedication to art and all its stakeholders, including a commitment to the city.” The new executive team comprises various professionals in art, cultural management, and law, among other fields.
Following this win, Valladares reassumes the leadership role at the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Tenerife. Now, his focus shifts to revitalizing the specific activities of the institution and outlining the program for the centenary celebrations, amidst other pivotal initiatives. The imminent task, above all, is to unveil what Valladares refers to as the “new Circle” after a prolonged anticipation, following the challenges of modernizing the premises and securing public financing for this essential project to restore the headquarters to full operation.
