SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 30th April. (EUROPA PRESS) –
A collaboration agreement was recently signed between the rector of the University of La Laguna, Francisco García, and the president of the Official College of Property Administrators of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Luis García. This agreement paves the way for the introduction of a new Bachelor’s degree in Property Administration and Real Estate Management, which will be added to the university’s course offerings by 2025.
The curriculum and the recruitment of faculty for this programme, which will include both university professors and professionals from the field, are already prepared and currently undergoing internal processing within the university before being open to the public.
In addition to being signed by local representatives, the agreement will also require endorsements from the General Council of the College of Property Administrators of Spain and the Official School of Property Administrators, with these procedures set to be finalised in the upcoming days.
The proposed curriculum consists of 28 subjects with a total of 180 credits. This programme will be completely online, foreseeing a diverse student body not only from Tenerife but also from across Spain and even Latin America. Although subject to potential modifications, an initial intake of approximately forty students is being considered, with no specific entry requirements as property administration is an inclusive professional field, and the degree will cover essential knowledge on law, sociology, management, taxation, data protection, and conflict resolution.
Both the rector and Professor Elvira Afonso from the Department of Basic Legal Disciplines, who was involved in the development of the degree, emphasised that this programme addresses a genuine societal need, as it was initiated by the official school following a specific training request to the university.
Similarly, the president of the collegiate organisation emphasised the promising demand for this qualification, pointing out that the field of property administration holds significant opportunities for the future, especially considering that currently, 70% of practitioners are aged over 50, indicating an imminent generational shift.
