Santa Cruz is set to unveil an enhanced leisure and dining area in Cabo Llanos, where the current Isla de Mar terrace stands. The Government Board approved the lease file for this plot, which will now encompass the entire area. The lease will last for 10 years without extension, with an annual fee of 168,965 euros.

Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez highlighted that “while maintaining its temporary nature, the site will undergo an urbanization project to enhance the surroundings with landscaping, costing 250,000 euros.”

Infrastructure Councilor Javier Rivero mentioned that “the current Isla de Mar building covers 980 square meters, but the upcoming facility could double its size.” He added, “This municipal plot, designated for tourism or tertiary purposes, will allow a construction area of 30,000 square meters within its 3,054 m², with an estimated market value of over 28 million euros.”

“This leasing agreement,” the mayor added, “stipulates that the tenant must handle the planning and implementation of both the urbanization project and the facility itself, which will host dining and leisure activities, including the demolition of the existing terrace.”

Rivero stressed that “based on the plot’s value, the tenant will pay the city council 1.689 million euros over ten years, resulting in an annual fee of 168,965 euros.” He clarified, “If the council decides to terminate the lease for public interest, such as selling the plot, compensation equivalent to the first five years of the lease will be provided.”

After the tender is published on the Contracting Platform, proposals can be submitted within the next 60 days. This move aims to address the Isla de Mar terrace’s neglect and security concerns, setting the stage for construction to commence this year.”

Furthermore, the area near the Víctor Zurita Soler roundabout, with illegal parking and advertising billboards, will also undergo cleanup, as reported by DIARIO DE AVISOS.”
