SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 13 (EUROPA PRESS) –

A 72-year-old neighbor of the municipality of El Paso has been found dead in a house located in the El Corazoncillo neighborhood, in the same town, and is currently waiting for an autopsy to be performed on the body to find out really what has been the cause of death, according to what sources from the Civil Guard have informed Europa Press.

It was a person who yesterday had accessed the exclusion zone in a team of neighbors authorized to carry out the ash cleaning work, under the direction of the City Council and under the conditions and according to the protocols that Pevolca has established for these performances.

The technical director of Pevolca, Miguel Ángel Morcuende, informed at a press conference that the causes of death are still unknown, since the incident is currently under investigation by the Judicial Authority and the Civil Guard.

However, this person could have separated from the group to clean ashes at the home of a relative, where this morning he was found dead. Some hypotheses indicate that this person could have died when part of the roof that he was cleaning of ashes collapsed.

The Pevolca Steering Committee had already warned of the precipitation of several people from covers carrying out ash cleaning tasks, for which it has continuously reiterated in its meetings and in its communications the importance of complying with security measures until the end is declared. of the emergency.

In this sense, Miguel Ángel Morcuende insisted on the need to continue complying with the protocol set by the Pevolca Steering Committee for cleaning the roofs, especially those that can be visited, to prevent this type of accident from occurring in the exercise of an activity that will continue, he assured.

Morcuende stressed that roof cleaning is an activity that has been allowed since the accumulation of ashes began and is developed in collaboration with the municipalities, which must have a list of the people who will carry out this work, where the corresponding person in charge, and which is provided to the Civil Guard.

The technical director added that this protocol also includes the self-protection safety conditions that must be met by the people who are going to carry out these cleaning tasks, such as not acting alone or using lifelines to avoid rushing or suffering an accident. if the cover yields.

Finally, Miguel Ángel Morcuende, on behalf of the Pevolca Technical Committee, “deeply” regretted the death of this person and wanted to convey his condolences to the family.
