Last Saturday, a grim discovery raised concerns on the coast of Tenerife. Body fragments of a woman were found floating in the sea on the coast between La Jaca and Las Listadas, in Arico.

As reported by EL DÍA, sources state that the torso of the individual was found without hands and with the head covered in a plastic bag. This unusual event has opened up a range of possibilities for investigators.

The Guardia Civil is currently exploring different hypotheses while experts from the Institute of Legal Medicine in Tenerife complete their analysis of the discovered body parts. The strange discovery of the head, covered with a bag, suggests a possible crime, leading the on-duty court to declare the case under secrecy.

From the outset, agents from the Organic Unit of the Judicial Police Team for Crimes against Persons of the Guardia Civil have been working in the area alongside the Territorial Team of the Judicial Police in the South of Tenerife. The alert was raised by a fisherman who was in the area and spotted human remains floating in the sea.

The fact that the body is dismembered introduces various possibilities to the case. Forensic experts must examine the state of decomposition of the corpse to determine when the woman died and how long she has been in the sea. Once this information is available, it may help narrow down the different hypotheses put forward by law enforcement, such as whether the limbs were lost due to fish activity or if the body entered the sea without them.

Initially, police sources stated that the remains found were in an advanced state of decomposition when discovered.
