A part of a woman’s body has been discovered on Saturday afternoon in the waters off the coast of Arico municipality (Tenerife). Initial reports indicate that the remains were floating in the water.

According to some witnesses, the torso of a person was found, but reportedly without hands. Furthermore, the head was covered with a plastic bag. The corpse was found near the neighborhoods of La Jaca and Las Listadas.

Officers from the Organic Police Unit of the Crimes against Persons Team of the Civil Guard in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, along with members of the Territorial Judicial Police Team of Southern Tenerife have already begun investigating the tragic incident.

The Court of First Instance and Instruction acting as Guard in Granadilla de Abona has ordered a secrecy order on the proceedings.

Also present at the scene were officers from the Criminalistics Laboratory of the Civil Guard, as well as a forensic doctor from the Institute of Legal Medicine in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, who are responsible for the body’s removal and photographic documentation.
