SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, April 25. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Today, Thursday, the second phase of the Padre Anchieta pedestrian pathway, 38 metres long and weighing 60 tonnes, arrives in Tenerife from Seville. It is scheduled to be moved next Monday night, from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday. There will be some impact on traffic flow, but there are no planned road closures along the designated route.

The transportation truck carrying the structure will depart from the East Dike, passing through the Vía Litoral, Avenida Tres de Mayo, the Juan Amigó de Lara tunnel, the TF-5 Highway (where three lanes will be occupied), and finally, the Padre Anchieta interchange heading north. The new piece will be installed by the end of May, once the third and fourth sections arrive on the island.

The Cabildo de Tenerife advises drivers passing through the area during the module transfer to exercise extreme caution and adhere to the signage and instructions provided by the Highway Operators.

The project involves the assembly of a walkway consisting of eleven sections, forming a circular structure of 314 metres. The aim is to alleviate traffic congestion at the roundabout (the primary access point to the historic centre of La Laguna via the TF-5) and enhance safety for pedestrians, particularly students from the University of La Laguna attending the faculties in the vicinity.

Construction on this roundabout commenced in November 2021 and was contracted to the company Obras Huarte Lain for 8.8 million euros. The design includes a continuously curved ring beam of around 100 metres in diameter, supported by specific structures, with a square linked to the current parking area of the Faculty of Biology.
