SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 24th April. (EUROPA PRESS) –

On Thursday, the Governing Council of Tenerife approved the tender for interior renovation works and facade restoration of the Annex to the Insular Palace, with a budget of approximately €14 million.

The project is expected to be completed within 32 months after the contract is awarded.

In the Tourism sector, the tender for stabilizing slopes on Virgen de Candelaria de Alcalá street in Guía de Isora, funded by the European Union under the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, was also approved.

The budget for this tender is €743,829, with a planned execution period of eight months.

Furthermore, a service contract was awarded to Beta Group Services SAS Branch in Spain for €165,740 to evaluate compliance with the Charter for the Sustainability of nature tourism activities and whale watching by companies in Tenerife. The contract includes surveys, ‘mystery shoppers’, and promotion of these activities on the island, with an execution period of 16 months.

This initiative is funded by the European Union through the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, as reported by the Council.

Under Municipal Cooperation and Housing, the Council awarded the sanitation network actions in the Candelaria coast Phase I to Canaragua Concesiones SAU for €837,967.44. These actions are part of the Island Cooperation Plan for works and services of municipal competence from 2018 to 2021, with a planned execution period of 10 months.

In the Sports sector, the rules and subsidy call were approved for recognising sporting achievements by Tenerife athletes in Spanish, European, and World Championships during 2023 with a budget of €200,000.

In the domain of Employment, Education, and Youth, the Council also approved the tender for the Tenerife Island Reading Promotion Program (Pialte) amounting to around €374,000.

The aim is to implement targeted measures to promote reading in a wide range of educational establishments across the island.

ISLAND STRATEGY FOR CITIZEN ENGAGEMENT

Within the area of Social Action, Inclusion, Volunteering, and Citizen Engagement, the Council approved the Island Citizen Participation Strategy of the Tenerife Island Council 2024-2027.

The goal is to enhance citizen engagement across all levels of island society, aligning with the evolving social landscape.

In the realm of Security and Emergencies, an extension of the agreement with the Official College of Psychology of Santa Cruz de Tenerife for civil protection was approved.

This extension aims to provide on-site psychological support to individuals directly impacted by extraordinary emergency situations within the civilian population or secondary victims, referring to individuals closely associated with the primary victims.

Additionally, this support service encompasses the Security and Emergency professionals of the Council who can intervene in crisis situations, including the Tenerife Fire Consortium and Brifor Operation personnel.
