SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 24th April. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Cabildo of Tenerife has announced a new edition of the ‘Agrojoven Awards’, a business project competition aimed at recognising and rewarding entrepreneurial initiatives by young individuals in the rural sector of the island, specifically those related to agricultural or livestock activities.

Minister of the Primary Sector, Valentín González, mentioned that this initiative seeks to foster professionalisation and involvement of youth in the primary sector, while also facilitating generational shift and addressing the challenges posed by the abandonment of agricultural lands on the island.

González highlighted that these awards aim to attract new talent to the agricultural sector, emphasise the significance of the primary sector and rural environment as viable career paths, and dispel any misconceptions surrounding these areas.

Furthermore, the Primary Sector councillor stated, “It is vital for us to acknowledge the initiative, dedication, and hard work of the youth entering this economic domain.”

The Agrojoven Awards for ongoing business projects will grant prizes of 5,000, 4,000, and 3,000 euros for the first, second, and third place respectively. Additionally, the competition includes a category for business ideas that have not yet been implemented, with four awards of 600 euros each.

To be eligible for consideration, projects must be connected to the development of Tenerife’s rural environment, initiated within the past 24 months or present a novel business concept, be based on the island of Tenerife, and demonstrate technical and economic-financial feasibility.
