The Mayor of Granadilla de Abona, Jennifer Miranda, has written to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Hugo Morán, the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, and the President of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, requesting a collaborative effort to find potential solutions for the La Tejita hotel project.
Several weeks ago, the mayor disclosed an agreement between the developer and the previous Government of the Canary Islands regarding the acquisition of the plot designated for the hotel, along with allocated funds for this purpose.
The intention, as stated by the former Minister of Ecological Transition and Climate Change, José Antonio Valbuena, was to “restore to a natural state” this coastal area, considered highly significant in terms of biodiversity, with the economic valuation being approved by the Ministry’s experts.
In the words of Jennifer Miranda, “we are now at a crucial juncture where we need all public authorities involved in finding a workable solution that ensures the preservation of this coastal area, allowing us to move from mere words to concrete actions.”
Fernando Clavijo has also arranged a meeting with the mayor, the president of the Cabildo, and the mayor of Adeje, José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, to assess the feasibility of the La Tejita project and the ‘Cuna del Alma’ tourist development.
