SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 12 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Housing of the Government of the Canary Islands submits to the public information and information process to the administrations and interested persons, the layout and construction project of the ‘Closure of the Tenerife Island Ring’, a new road between San Juan de La Rambla-Icod de Los Vinos, a project whose updating was contracted by the Ministry a few months ago and which has now been completed.

With this public exhibition, the Ministry gives a “new impetus” to the closure of the island ring in the north of Tenerife since, after completing the information process, the contracting of the definitive execution of the works will begin in the coming months, notes in a note.

The Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC) publishes this Friday this public information of the new project, which also has its corresponding environmental impact study, and establishes a period of 30 days in which allegations, observations and queries may be submitted.

The General Directorate of Road Infrastructure, with this recently completed update, recovers a project that the Government of the Canary Islands had completed since 2008 but that “was never carried out at the time and that now it is intended to resume until its final execution”.

The Ministry awarded in the first quarter of this year, and for 294,250 euros, the company Trazas Ingeniería SL the contracting of the service to update the route project for the road between the municipalities of San Juan de La Rambla and Icod, which was drawn up in 2008, to adapt it to current legislative and environmental regulations.

This work will allow to continue with the closure of the island ring of Tenerife in the north of the island since it will connect with the section of the TF-5 between San Juan de La Rambla and Los Realejos, also in programming, to the east, and to the west, with the section already in use between Icod and El Tanque.

Currently, the western closure between El Tanque and Santiago del Teide is being executed, the largest work of the entire Canarian Government with an investment of 240 million euros and the longest tunnel in the archipelago, that of Erjos, with 5.1 kilometers travel.

28,000 MORE VEHICLES PER DAY

Aware that the entry into service in the coming years of the aforementioned section will attract a daily average of 28,000 vehicles from the northern region of Tenerife to the south, the General Directorate of Road Infrastructure, in collaboration with the Cabildo de Tenerife, decided to resume and promoting the section between San Juan de la Rambla and Icod that was planned in 2008 to first update the project and execute it later.

This section will connect in the future with the action that the Cabildo de Tenerife, in coordination with the Canarian Government, also plans to improve the TF-5 between Los Realejos and San Juan de La Rambla to conclude the closure of the Insular Ring.
