Garachico officially joins the club of the most beautiful towns in Spain

The Association of the Most Beautiful Villages in Spain He included Garachico on his list on January 1; presented the recognition to the mayor in the last Madrid International Tourism Fair (Fitur), and today formalizes on the ground an acknowledgment that, in the mayor’s opinion, Jose Heriberto Gonzalez (CC), “will only bring benefits.” The City Council has organized a weekend full of activities and solidarity with the island of La Palma to finally make the municipality’s entry into this national network official. On the morning of this Saturday 13 there will be children’s activities carried out by the La Maresía collective, with free transport from the midlands for minors in that area of ​​the municipality. In addition, ping-pong tournaments will be organized, with CD Prakan, and Canarian ball, by RCD Gara veterans, among other sports activities. The day will end with the presentation of the book Garachico: graphic vision of his past, from Carlos Acosta placeholder image. It will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Casa de Piedra. On Sunday more sporting events are organized and a solidarity walk between the neighborhoods of Genovés and San Juan del Reparo.

The Association of the Most Beautiful Villages in Spain defines Garachico as “a town located in the northwest of Tenerife, which has a rich architectural heritage in its historic center, very well preserved, from the 16th and 17th centuries, which is why it was declared BIC in 1994.” Garachico and Agulo They accessed this list on January 1, together with Beget (Girona), Molinaseca (León), Baños de la Encina (Jaén), Genalguacil (Málaga), Nuevo Baztán (Madrid), Valverde de la Vera (Cáceres), Roncal (Navarra). ), Bulnes and Cudillero (Asturias). These 11 Spanish towns are the ones that have managed to pass an audit with more than 40 criteria focused on aspects such as heritage care, harmony of the municipality, cleanliness, conservation of facades, vehicle circulation, care of green areas, programmed cultural activity or attention to the traditions.
