The City Council of La Laguna has announced the abandonment of the proposed alterations to Camino Salazar, which intersected the sports area of the Las Peras Road, following the resistance from local residents.
“We place utmost importance on the voice of the citizens of #LaLaguna!” declared Salazar.
Furthermore, it emphasises the “unwavering commitment” of the governing body comprising of PSOE and CC, and promises that soon “enhancements to the sports facilities in the area will be made for the benefit of all residents.”
The initial proposal was to transform Camino Salazar into a two-lane road to ease entry to the Vía de Ronda, a plan that would have interfered with the Camino de Las Peras, which has pathways on either side that are frequented by many athletes for training and enjoying the outdoors.
📣 We put the voice of the citizens of #The lagoon first! After extensive discussions with the ‘Save the Las Peras Road’ group, we have decided against altering the traffic flow on Salazar Road.
