The councilor for Urbanism of La Laguna, Santiago Pérez. / GIVES

The La Laguna Urban Planning Department, led by Santiago Pérez, has opened a participatory process to collect the demands and needs that exist in each of the neighborhoods of the municipality. With this consultation, which will serve to know the experiences of the population that lives and walks daily through the different nuclei, we want to create a database that facilitates the preparation of environmental impact assessment reports, as well as modifications of the General Plan of Management (PGO) and its development instruments, thanks to the information collected.

People interested in submitting their assessments have until December 8 to fill out a survey with 40 questions, which can be accessed through the Transparency page of the official website of the autonomous body (https://sede.urbanismolaguna.es/transparencia/participacion/proceso/9). Among the issues raised, there are several related to accessibility, both of homes and public spaces (for example, if you live in a building with an elevator, if the environment is adapted to wheelchairs or baby carriages and if you live together with family members with functional diversity).

To these issues are added others, such as those that have to do with sustainable mobility (if there is a bus or tram stop nearby, the main means of transport used, etc.), lighting, signage and others related to the existence and use of public recreation places, such as parks and squares.

The managing director of the Management, Santiago Pérez, indicated that “progress towards fairer and more equitable societies implies working together with all the agents that compose it, starting from active listening and the collection of information”. This participatory procedure (which is integrated into the Data Collection, Participatory Process and Analysis of Sampling Data project) entails starting the construction of a database that, “taking into account the gender perspective, serves as a reflection of the characteristics individuals from each neighborhood, facilitating the work to move towards urban spaces that are more inclusive and that take that diversity into account ”, he pointed out.

This consultation through the Internet will be accompanied by a workshop in citizen centers, which will delve into the questions raised by the people who carried out the survey. on-line. All the information provided will allow a diagnosis of the state of each lagoon nucleus, “thanks to the knowledge and experiences of its own neighbors”, so that it can be taken into account by the different areas of the City Council in their future projects and actions. .
