Canary Islands Airports Welcome 4.9 Million Passengers in March

During March, the airports in Canary Islands welcomed a total of 4,952,941 passengers, marking a 14.4% increase compared to the same month in 2023.

Out of the total number of passengers registered last month, 4,921,071 were on commercial flights, with 1,761,157 flying domestically, an 11.8% increase, and 3,159,914 on international flights, representing a 17.5% growth compared to March last year.

Additionally, there were 42,667 aircraft movements, an 11% increase from the same month in 2023, and 2,694 tonnes of cargo were transported.

In March, Gran Canaria Airport recorded the highest number of passengers with 1,479,738, a 14.7% increase compared to March 2023.

Following closely is Tenerife Sur Airport, with 1,346,732 passengers, an increase of 16.2% compared to 2023; César Manrique-Lanzarote with 791,297 (+14.2%); Fuerteventura with 598,861 (+10.5%); Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna with 560,916 (+13.6%); La Palma with 138,704 (+16.5%); El Hierro with 26,540 (+14.4%) and La Gomera with 10,153 passengers and the highest percentage growth compared to the same month in 2023, with a 28.4% increase.

So far this year, Canary Islands airports have welcomed 13,651,816 passengers, a 12.2% increase from the same period last year.

Out of the 13,534,675 commercial passengers, 4,782,750 flew domestically, a 10.1% increase, and 8,751,925 flew internationally, a 14.4% increase compared to the total in 2023.
