SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 11th April (EUROPA PRESS) –

Celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary this year, the Santiago Martín Pavilion will host ‘La Quedada del Año’ on the 4th of May at 7:00 p.m. This comedy extravaganza is set to be the largest comedy festival in the Canary Islands, featuring a line-up of twenty of the best comedians from the islands, promising over three hours of laughter.

Organized by Palante Producciones, led by the renowned Darío López, the show has received support from the Cabildo of Tenerife through the public company Ideco, as well as backing from the Government of the Canary Islands and the City Council of La Laguna.

Today, Thursday, the event details were unveiled by the Minister of Culture and Museums of Tenerife, José Carlos Acha, alongside comedian Darío López, insular Minister of Sports Yolanda Moliné, Rural Environment Management (GMR) manager Juan Antonio Alonso Barreto, Culture and Autonomous Organization of Musical Activities director from the La Laguna City Council Fernando Jiménez, and Carlos Pedrós, member of the Abubukaka group and artistic director of the show.

José Carlos Acha described the upcoming show as “a fantastic event featuring more than twenty Canarian comedians, lasting for over two hours, all set in the iconic Santiago Martín Pavilion on its 25th anniversary.” He expressed confidence that it will be a “magnificent event” and commended the organizers for this initiative, thanking the Tenerife Cabildo for their support.

Yolanda Moliné highlighted the Santiago Martín Pavilion’s history of hosting numerous cultural and sporting events, attracting over 2.5 million spectators over 25 years with more than 1,200 events annually. She anticipates ‘The Quedada of the Year’ to be a “spectacular show, with guaranteed success”, and announced additional activities to mark the venue’s 25th anniversary.

Darío López shared the roster of artists who will grace the stage alongside him during this comedy marathon. The line-up includes Aarón Gómez, Abián Díaz, Abubukaka (Víctor Hubara, Carlos Pedrós, Amanhuy Calayanes and Diego Lupiañez), Delia Santana, The Suppository (Jorge Galván, Domingo Efegé, Conrado Flores, Paco Efegé and José Juan Ramallo), Ignatius Farray, Kike Pérez, Omayra Cazorla, Petite Lorena, singer Yeray Rodríguez, and vocalists Arístides Moreno and Víctor Lemes.

Juan Antonio Alonso, GMR manager, emphasized their participation in the show, stating, “Support local talent by enjoying it. These master comedians are dedicated to such initiatives.” He also encouraged them to replicate this experience on other islands, calling it a challenge worth pursuing.

Fernando Jiménez expressed amazement at the public’s response, highlighting how humour is a genre that resonates uniquely in the Canary Islands. He described the event as a historical milestone.

Carlos Pedrós, artistic director of the show, explained their aim to provide a comprehensive experience at the Santiago Martín, promising surprises from the moment attendees enter and showcasing a diverse range of talents offering various styles of humour. “Our goal is to deliver a three-hour show. It will be a night of pure entertainment,” he predicted.

‘La Quedada of the Year’ has already sold nearly 5,000 tickets within two weeks, making it the most anticipated comedy event of 2024 in the Canary Islands. The event features artists from Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Palma, and Lanzarote, offering a mix of quality and variety in comedic styles, with some acts combining music and humour. Tickets for the live show are available for purchase at www.laquedada.es and through the Santiago Martín Pavilion ticket sales platform.
