The mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and nationalist deputy, José Manuel Bermúdez, will become a father for the first time at the age of 58. The mayor from Santa Cruz has shared the “fantastic news” with his colleagues and friends through a message, announcing that he will be a dad to a son.

In his message, nationalist José Manuel Bermúdez stated, “There will be sleepless nights, but we are ready for everything, happy and excited. And of course, Paula (his current partner) and I want to share this excitement with all of you”.

The mayor of Santa Cruz has confessed on numerous occasions his love for children and has always spoken affectionately of his niece, whom he adores. Now it’s his turn, and the mayor is thrilled about the baby’s arrival. Specifically, his partner is three and a half months pregnant.

Bermúdez was born on October 23, 1966 in Gran Canaria, although shortly after his birth, his parents moved to the island of Tenerife. He grew up in the Valleseco neighbourhood of Santa Cruz, near the sea, and when he turned 15, his family moved to La Salud neighbourhood. He studied Law at the University of La Laguna.

At only 18, he joined the Tinerfeña Independent Grouping (ATI) and was a founder of the youth branch of this political party. José Manuel Bermúdez, who currently holds positions in the highest political bodies of CC and also in the National Executive, has held various public and organizational responsibilities within this party. He was president of the local nationalist Committee of Santa Cruz since 2006 and is currently the Secretary of Insular Policies.

He began his political career at the Tenerife Island Council in 1991, where he remained for 20 years, holding various responsibilities. In 2011, he made the leap to the Santa Cruz City Council and became the mayor, after the pact established at the time with the Socialist Party (PSOE), with Julio Pérez at the helm. He continues to be the mayor of Santa Cruz to this day, following the agreement made with the People’s Party. Additionally, Bermúdez is a deputy. And now, he will also be a father…
