The European Motorists Association has once again ranked Santa Cruz de Tenerife at the top among major municipalities in Spain with the most budget-friendly vehicle tax for filming purposes, surpassing Madrid, Barcelona, and San Sebastián.

As per the announcement made by the Santa Cruz City Council, the Tax on Mechanical Traction Vehicles puts the Canarian city in the spotlight as one of the provincial capitals where vehicle owners bear the lightest taxation burden for this particular levy.

This tax, which comprises 26 sections across six categories, primarily impacts passenger cars falling within the 8 to 16 fiscal horsepower range.

According to the City Council of Santa Cruz, in the comparison released by the association, particularly in the 8 to 12 fiscal horsepower category, Santa Cruz de Tenerife (34.10) ranks ahead of Palencia (51.04), Jaén (51.12), Zamora (49.08), and Badajoz (53.61).

In two other sections of the taxation scheme aimed at car owners, Santa Cruz de Tenerife emerges as one of the cities with the lowest tax liabilities.

Moreover, in the segment concerning passenger cars with up to 8 fiscal horsepower, Santa Cruz leads the pack at 19 euros (12.62), followed by Zamora (13.63) and Jaén (17.67).

The Tenerife capital’s City Council also emphasizes the significant variance between municipalities, illustrating that a medium-sized car with 11.99 fiscal horsepower incurs a cost of 34.08 euros in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, compared with 59 euros in Madrid, 68.16 euros in Barcelona, and 87.93 euros in San Sebastián.

This discrepancy translates to a 158% higher cost in San Sebastián compared to Tenerife, highlighting San Sebastián, Vitoria, Bilbao, Barcelona, Tarragona, Lleida, Palma, Ciudad Real, Valladolid, Huelva, Granada, and Murcia as some of the most expensive municipalities in Spain in terms of this tax.
