The conclusion of Holy Week in La Laguna is nearing. Following the significant days of Holy Thursday and Good Friday, the town marked Holy Saturday yesterday with the procession of Our Lady of Solitude and the grand Easter Vigil at night, honouring the sacred night of the Lord’s resurrection, culminating in Easter Sunday today.

La Laguna has recently encountered days filled with faith, emotion, and tradition. Unfavorable weather conditions led to the shortening of several processions or even the cancellation of some, such as the Madrugada procession, which is one of the most moving events in the town, scheduled for early last Friday. Fortunately, improved weather allowed the Magna procession to take place on Friday afternoon, unifying most of La Laguna’s Holy Week activities, showcasing profound sacred art.

Yesterday, on Holy Saturday, only Nuestra Señora de la Soledad embarked on a procession from the Santo Domingo parish with its brotherhood. In the final stages, a street was omitted from the route to hasten the pace before the rain arrived, as reported by the Board of Brotherhoods and Brotherhoods.

Local parishes readied themselves throughout the day for the Easter Vigil, a ceremony commemorating the sacred night of the Lord’s resurrection. The plan at the Cathedral of La Laguna was to commence at 10:00 p.m. with the kindling of the fire and the blessing of the Paschal Candle in Plaza de los Remedios. Afterwards, the congregation would return to the temple to continue with the Eucharist, during which the Gloria hymn symbolises the transition from death to life, marking Christ’s triumph, as mentioned by the Diocese.

The grand finale of Holy Week arrives today on Easter Sunday. The Holy Risen Christ will depart from the Santo Domingo parish at 9:45 a.m., followed by the solemn Seasonal Mass at the Cathedral at noon, concluding with the procession of His Divine Majesty to the church of La Concepción.
